Services

Sessions are one and one half hours long for the initial session and one hour for each visit thereafter.(Very young children sometimes are seen for shorter visits, depending on their abilities) Each intervention is uniquely designed respecting the distinctness and special needs of each client Stories, games and play approaches are often used with the younger children. This approach has proven to be successful with:

SCHOOL PROBLEMS

  • Rebellious conduct/Disruptiveness Restlessness/poor concentration
  • Low Grades/Dislike of school/teachers
  • Reading Problems/Neglecting homework
  • Test anxiety/Memory problems
  • Dealing with bullies
  • Getting work done on time
  • Writing difficulties/Stuttering/Study habits

UNHELPFUL HABIT

  • Thumb sucking/Bedwetting/Lip biting
  • Hair pulling/Nail biting/Teeth grinding
  • Disorganization/Procrastination
  • Skin picking/Loudness/ Knuckle cracking
  • Hyperactivity/Lying
  • Smoking/Alcohol and Drug Abuse

PHYSICAL PROBLEMS

  • Physical pain(With doctor’s referral only) Overweight for height
  • Chronic illness/Warts/Medication compliance and potentiation
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome/Tics/ecolalia/Tinnitus
  • An adjunct to chemotherapy(for pain and nausea)

EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS

  • Nightmares/Fear of doctors/needles
  • Other fears or phobias/Sleep problems
  • Negativity Insecurity/Lack of confidence
  • Undue stress/Divorce/Death in the family
  • Grief over loss of a pet/Other traumatic incidents
  • Unhappiness(if diagnosed with clinical depression can work with physician/psychologist/ psychiatrist as part of the treatment team)

SOCIAL AND FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Sibling Rivalry/New child/parent in family
  • Stealing
  • Cleaning room
  • Getting along with others/Turn taking etc
  • Conflict resolution/Anger management
